What is the first thought that crosses your mind when you hear about skirts and heels? A pretty woman? Well, that’s not always the case. We generally have a view that clothes have gender too. Some clothes are intended for men while others for women. But one guy came up with a unique idea to break the stereotypes. He proves that skirts and heels are not only for women and you can wear whatever you want.
Skirts and Heels are Not Only for Women
Mark Bryan, an open-minded person who wears whatever he likes and shows himself openly, not obliged to live up to any kind of stereotype. This inspirational try to demonstrate that it’s ultimately time to get rid of gender conventions, particularly in clothing.
Bryan is an American citizen who currently lives in Germany and is a robotic engineer. He is living his life like every other person, besides that, he defies gender stereotypes every day. He mostly always wears a skirt and heels while he goes to work, to the city, and even at residence. And to be honest, he looks absolutely amazing while he does.
Mark, about his novel idea, said that:
“I dress like this because I can. Just to be different. I have always admired the women that wore tight skirts and heels. Not sexually, but the power they presented.”
Mark says that with men’s pants, you have just a few color choices: black, gray, navy, and brown, and no pants with prints. With skirts, you can combine reds, green, brighter blues, floral prints, animal prints, etc. Same with footwear, but then you also have many more vogues and heel varieties. Furthermore, you can wear open-toed shoes when the weather is fine.
Mark has been happily married for 11 years and receives complete support from his wife and family: “My wife usually makes recommendations on what I should wear. My daughter hopes she could borrow my shoes at times.”
He also explained how people react to him. He said that women, normally around the age of 30 to 40, address him with good remarks and give compliments. Men make comments or ask questions, but normally will not praise his appearance.
Mark also gave some guidance for men who aspire to wear skirts and heels but are too scared: “If you are asking about heels, then I would say to start with a low heel and work your way up as your self-esteem gets higher. You cannot be scared. Some people are like animals, they attack the weak. Show courage and tell the world you are not afraid and nobody will disturb you. The only fear you have is fear itself. Skirts? Just do it. Possibly not with high heels, but skirts are much more tolerable on a man than a man wearing heels.”
Mark is not only a mechanical engineer; he is also the head coach of a football team. He is currently renovating his 1967 Porsche 911 and his spouse keeps him busy with her “honey-do-list.”
