Muniba Mazari is respectfully referred to as the Iron Lady of Pakistan for all the right reasons.
Muniba Mazari was born on March 3, 1987. She is only 32 and belongs to the Baloch background and her hometown is Rahim Yar Khan. She has completed Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. Mazari has been wheelchair-bound since 2007 due to a terrible road accident which has changed her entire life.
In 2007 just after two years of her marriage, she met a horrific accident and the car fell in a ditch as her husband had fallen asleep while driving. At the age of 21, she was left paralyzed for her entire life. The terrible car accident gave her many serious injuries as her backbone was broken and she experienced various fractures to her arms, shoulder, collarbone and rib cage. Her liver and lungs were damaged as well and she remained under medication.
The worst days of her life started when her husband divorced her because of the disability and not only had her husband, but her Father also abandoned her.
The doctors continued giving her the bad news about her health. The first terrible news was that she would not be able to paint again because of the critical injuries on her arms and shoulders. The second one was that she will not be able to walk because of her spinal injury. The third that changed her whole life and was the most grievous for her was that she won’t be able to give birth and this news completely shattered her.
The Iron Lady of Pakistan
The doctors continued giving her the bad news about her health. The first terrible news was that she would not be able to paint again because of the critical injuries on her arms and shoulders. The second one was that she will not be able to walk because of her spinal injury. The third that changed her whole life and was the most grievous for her was that she won’t be able to give birth and this news completely shattered her.
She spent almost two years in Hospital’s bed and those were the most challenging years of her life but her courage started defeating all these distressing feelings and instead of moaning she gathered her strength and adopted a baby “Nael Mazari” and nourished him alone.

Though she was bounded to a wheelchair, her enthusiasm and ability know no bounds. She perceives the pain of spinal cord injury as a trial and is more firm to express her feelings through her artwork.
Nine years later, her inspirational story continues to touch the hearts of millions of people across the globe. Mazari was named one of BBC’s “100 Most Inspirational Women in 2015” and starred in Forbes’ “30 under 0” the following year.
She also appears as an anchor at Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). As Pakistan’s first wheelchair-using artist and first female Goodwill Ambassador, Mazari continues to do modeling, motivational speaking, and singing, proving that determination always defeats fears. She is truly a symbol of motivation.
