A young woman was marked as a “mail order bride” when she married a beneficiary. But “Lorie fe Dales,” from the Philippines, declares she is in love with her old partner Thomas Greig after the couple met each other on Facebook. A 23-year-old woman marries a man 71 and slams those who criticize her age gap.
23-year-old Lorie fell for Thomas after reaching him on Facebook in 2014. While she was charmed by his personality, the Wallasey-based beneficiary declares he was obsessed with the young woman’s looks. The couple later reached out in Ceub, in the Philippines.
Despite the couple had a 48 years age gap, they determined they could make a long-distance relationship work.
Lorie said, “The very first time I saw him on Facebook, I was like ‘wow he might be old’, but he doesn’t seem as old as you might think. On our first date in Ceub, I was so nervous. But the emotions I had were common and we could feel that we are both in love. For him, it was love at first sight and to me, I didn’t love him yet, but I was drawn to him though. “He was obsessed with my cuteness and I loved his blue eyes the most.
At the start, Lorie’s family was shocked by her choice of partner, but when they noticed how happy she was, they supported her decision. She said: “For us, age is just a number; it is a question of ‘mind over matter’ if you don’t mind it doesn’t matter.
My family said that they couldn’t understand I have him as my companion, but now they say if I’m positive about him, they will always encourage me, and they are happy as long as I am.”
But sadly, some people out there aren’t so positive of the bond. Lorie added: “People assume that our age’s matter, as he is aged and I’m young, but what I will say to them is we live our life the way we desire and we are happy, thank you.
“People say that I’m a mail order bride, saying my husband has bought himself a young wife.”

Thomas and Lorie got married a few months later in 2014. The couple now has a three-year-old daughter. Even though the duo is happily wedded, they still live far apart. They managed to stay in touch via Skype and routinely plan to meet up.
Lorie explained: “It wasn’t comfortable at all being far away from each other but over time we have gotten used to it and concerning the closeness aspects we just always remind ourselves not to worry, we will be together again.
“We talk through Skype every day and we regularly see each other so that makes me feel ok as soon as we are near to each other, “Our plan for the future is to give the best to our daughter.
