Mixed Martial Arts is a developing sport in Pakistan and not completely favorite among ladies but this female fighter wants to break that stereotype. A Pakistani female lawyer is fighting MMA to motivate more girls to this sport.

24-year-old Munawar Sultana is a MMA fighter from Jhang, Pakistan who just won her debut match and does not plan on settling here; she’s one of the few women who competed in the first of its kind, ‘Serai Fight Night’ held in Islamabad earlier this month.

She is practicing lawyer by day and do find it hard to balance the two jobs sometimes but says it’s all about time management.

“I completed my law degree first and then I entered MMA. I made it certain to maintain a balance,” Sultana said.

She’s a lawyer by day and a mixed martial artist in the evening. She told her law associates that she won’t be able to work after 4 pm because she has to do her MMA coaching afterward.

Remembering her debut match and how she prepared for it, she said, “Some of the SFN competitors already trained at my gym so I asked my trainer to coach me with them as well, even though I didn’t have any expertise as such. Later on, my trainer, Irfan Ahmed reached out to a contestant and scheduled a fight for me as well.”

SFN was held earlier this month and she had no idea that the event was on such a huge scale. She didn’t think that she would get the opportunity to compete in this tournament and surprisingly, she even won.

Sultana declared, “As far as my fate with MMA goes, I want to gain my name in the profession and pursue fighting. I’m just listening to my trainers right now and they have a better opinion and letting them take the lead.”

“I’ve been planning on teaching self-defense sessions for women myself,” she added.
