Everyone in their childhood used to listen to the stories about fairies, ghosts and princes or princesses from their grandma while cuddling a pillow or sleeping in a lap. That was one of the best feeling ever. Isn’t it? So now when we grew up and have little time for gossips while sitting around a bonfire. Starring one of the most successful and leading hero Brad Pitt, Troy is the best movie that portrays the ancient war between the two kingdoms Troy and Sparta. Where Trojan prince “Paris” on a friendly visit to Spartan king falls in love with his brother’s wife and takes her back to the troy. At that time Spartan kingdom is at its best defeating almost every other kingdom in Greece. This foolish act from the prince of Troy gave a chance to Spartan king not only to take revenge but also to conquer the Trojan Empire. The story also revolves around the one of the finest warrior in the Spartan army “Achilles” which is also renowned as a son of a goddess.  His menacing character makes the film worth watch in one of the plot where he avenge his cousin’s death from the prince of troy and how he died for the love.

  1. Braveheart (1995)

Have you heard about the Scottish hero “William Wallace”? Braveheart is a little biography of a Scottish patriot William Wallace and his conquest against the English kingdom. Burning in the fire of vengeance after the murder of his love by the English soldiers, he spurred into revolt against the English and defeated their armies in many battles. He almost reached at the door step of England. King Edward realizing the threat to his throne ordered to capture him and execute him in front of a crowd to discourage the revolt. But at that time William Wallace already became a symbol of freedom for Scotland.

A Muslim ambassador from Arab “Ahmad ibn Fadlan” (Antonio Banderas) because of his unexpected fate was banished from his land and then he find himself in the company of Northmen called “Vikings”. The situation get more worst when a little boy who came far from the north ask for their help to fight against the evil called “Wendol” that are accused to be the eaters of the dead. This situation gives a chance to ambassador of Arab to prove himself a hero.

A French Backsmith ”Balian” (Orlando Bloom) who was sulking on his wife’s death  joins a pack of crusaders  on a journey to Jerusalem. Balian hopes to gain forgiveness and redemption for himself in Jerusalem. On reaching Jerusalem he finds himself as a savior of the holy city as the leprous King Baldwin IV was counting his last breath. The king to be Guy de Lusignan wants to wage war against the Muslim King “Saladin” for his own political and personal interests. At last Saladin after crushing his enemies assaulted on Jerusalem where Balian and his Knights are ready to die for the holy city.

This movie is based on a biography and true story of one of history’s most luminous and successful warrior who almost conquered the whole world at the age of 27. A young boy Alexander fueled by the dreams of myth glory and adventures led his invincible and fierce armies from Greek and Macedonia through almost 22,000 miles of sieges, assaults and conquests build a vast empire of almost the whole known world in just eight years. The story revolves around his different conquests in different lands and continents and his path of becoming a living legend.

A General of a Roman army “Maximus” runs as a deserter for his life because of his cruel fate. He is found by slave traders where he is accompanied by an African slave called Juba. Maximus and Juba are then purchased by Proximo, the manager of the local gladiator school. Meanwhile the Emperor Commodus sponsors gladiatorial games in Rome to commemorate his father’s death. Maximus and Juba are scheduled in the fighting arena of the colosseum. In colosseum Maximus faces the reason of his bad fate Commodus. Commodus visits him beneath the Colosseum, and tells him that they’ll fight in the arena. Before the battle, Commodus stabs him in the back and orders his general to cover up the wound. In the final battle both of the participants die after a dramatic fight.

The plot starts when King Arthur with his Knights went on their way to Hadrian’s wall when they saw the bishop carriage attacked by woads. Arthur and his Knights fight against the woads and save Bishop. Arthur and his knights were expecting discharge from their service of Rome but they were sent on risky mission beyond to the Hadrian’s Wall to rescue a Roman family from approaching Saxons. On this mission Arthur found a slave girl “Guinvere” who in turns bring a truce between Arthur and Woads to fight against the common enemy “Saxons”.

After the fall of Roman Empire, Lord Marke seeks to reunite the English tribes to build a strong nation to rid England from Irish rule. Due to some harsh incidents Tristan get stuck in Ireland where he found Irish princess “Isolde” and falls in love with her. While unaware of her identity he won her hand for his lord Marke and she is set to marry him. But now the passion of love between two young birds from two different nations and countries causes a devastating battle.

  1. Season of the Witch (2011)

On return to his homeland, a crusader along with his friend encounters a devastated village by the black plague. Where church commands the two knights to transport an accused witch to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending this lethal plague. On their journey to abbey they encounter sudden casualties one after another. At last when they reach the abbey they realize that the accused witch is not an ordinary girl, the cruel fate and the demon is awaiting at the destination.

The story revolves around a Spartan King “Leonidas” and his extremely small army of 300 men that hold off an invading army of 250,000 men from Persia. Though certain death awaits the Spartans, the movie portrays the heroic spirit of the Spartans and their struggle to repel the Persians .Their sacrifice inspires all the states of the Greece to unite and fight against their common enemy.
